Obituary of Allan Maxwell Pittman
Allan Maxwell Pittman of Alma, NB passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Moncton Hospital on Monday, March 24, 2025.
Born in Corner Brook, NL he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Parsons) Pittman. Allan was in the Air Force in his younger years, and worked as a Manager of Network Technology Systems computing department at the University of Waterloo, ON for 20 years. In later years, he owned and operated the Parkland Village Inn, in Alma, NB with his wife Donna.
Allan and Donna met in the service and moved to Kitchener, ON where they built their first home and raised a family of two boys, Shawn and Grant. Allan and Donna loved to entertain. During the World-Famous Oktoberfest celebrations in Kitchener, they would often have house parties with friends. This was a yearly tradition and was fun for all.
He brought his family to Donna's home in Alma New Brunswick for summer vacations where they enjoyed visiting their large family and friends. They would also visit both Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island to enjoy Cottage life with friends and his favorite New Glasgow lobster suppers.
Allan loved Newfoundland. He especially enjoyed telling stories and sharing memories of Corner Brook and Channel-Port aux Basques where he spent the early years of his life going to school and working as a young teenager.
Allan was mayor of Alma for 4 years and concentrated on the infrastructure of the new water and sewage system. He was also president of the Albert County Tourism Association where he worked with businesses in the area developing an ever-growing offer for traveler’s world wide to enjoy.
He and his wife Donna spent their retirement years wintering in Clearwater Florida (Bay Aristocrat Village) where he became councillor and treasurer in their village community and was very well received. Family and friends were always welcome to come visit and enjoy Allan and Donna's company and enjoy what Florida had to offer.
In retirement, Allan and Donna built a beautiful home in the hills of Alma where they loved enjoying the stunning views and the sunsets over Alma and the Bay of Fundy.
Allan is survived by his wife, Donna (Kane) Pittman, Alma, NB; sons, Shawn Pittman (Darlene Worth) in Alma and Grant Pittman (Shirley Wanner) of Waterloo, ON; sister, Dorothy Payne (Edward) of Panama; brother, Charles Pittman (Alice) of Grand Falls, NL; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Allan’s wishes, there will be no public services held. Family and friends will gather at a later date for a celebration of life.
