Obituary of Susan Beth Soucoup

Our beloved mother, sister, and grandmother Susan Soucoup died peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on March 19, 2025 at the age of 74 with her two sons at her side.   

 

A journalist, activist, and a defender of equal rights. She worked for the CBC for many years and volunteered her time to community organizations. Driven by her faith in God and her belief in the good of humanity, she would often cook for and donate goods to people in need. She made homemade bread for everyone she knew. 

 

Predeceased by her parents Kathleen and James, Susan is survived by her sons Matthew (Dawn) and Daniel, her grandchildren Andrew, Nathan and Ayla, and her siblings Gail (Henry), Janet-Rose (Steven), William (Jesse), and Trudy (Kevin). 

 

Susan’s remains will be cremated. Her ashes will be spread among the apple trees at a family farm she loved as a child in a small family gathering. 

 

Susan loved her cats, many of whom she adopted through the SPCA. Those wishing to honor her life are asked to make a donation to The Moncton SPCA Foundation in her name(monctonspcafoundation.com)
