Obituary of Tony Jay
Tony Jay, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 75 years.
Tony was the heart of his community, always the first to welcome new neighbors. He called Harrisville home but cherished his summers at the cottage, where he could be found greeting everyone who passed by on Beach Road.
An early riser, he welcomed each day with the rise of the sun and ended many summer nights playing cards with his family—always ready to challenge his grandkids to a game of Crazy 8s.
Strong-willed to some, determined to others—Tony simply knew the right way to get things done. He was always up for a chat and loved to visit with friends and family. Tony was a man of many talents, he had a gift for fishing, hunting, and gardening. His creativity knew no bounds; he could build anything from wood and had the knack for making any engine, big or small, roar to life. With a deep appreciation for antiques and collectibles, Tony was always on the lookout for hidden treasures, his curiosity and passion for history never fading. Tony was also always on the hunt for the elusive “best” dill pickle in town!
Above all, Tony was a devoted family man, larger than life in his love and dedication. He recently celebrated 50 years of marriage with the love of his life, Kathy. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories- whether at home, at the cottage or surrounded by family and friends.
Tony leaves behind his son, Aaron, wife, April (MacAleese); his daughter, Lisa, husband, Jeff Fraser; and his five cherished grandchildren: Adrian, (Janice Losier) Alissa, Allyson, Aiden, (Bianca Massaro) and Ayla. Tony was predeceased by his parents, Geraldine Jay and Waverly Jay, and one brother, Wayne Jay. He is survived by his brother, Reg Jay (Maryann), and sister-in-law Muriel, step-sister Bunny McCarthy (Tom).
He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Tony’s memory by doing a kind deed for someone in need, just as he always would have.
Visitation will be held at Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre, 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview (506-857-9544) on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm with Rev.
