Obituary of Shirley Anne Lean

A loving wife, mother, daughter, teacher, and friend, Shirley Anne Lean went home to be with her Saviour on Sunday, January 26th, 2025 . She will be remembered as a beautiful woman who loved unconditionally, gave of herself joyfully, and served her Lord faithfully.

Born in Barker’s Point, Fredericton, NB she was the daughter of the late Dow and Edith (MacKay) Banks. Shirley retired in 2000 after 15 years working with the Anglophone East School District (then School District 15) as a resource and art teacher. She was a faithful member of the Riverview Baptist Church (now The Journey Church), serving in many areas. She was also a member of the Greater Moncton Teacher’s Association; the Greater Moncton Women’s Connection of Stonecroft Ministries; Atlantic Baptist Women; the Red Hatters; and a volunteer at the Riverview Arts Centre.

Shirley is survived by her devoted husband John Lean; son Mark Lean (Andrea) of Riverview; and, daughters Heather Campagna (Scott) of Riverview and Amy Lean MacArthur (Jeff) of Riverview. She will also be greatly missed by those who lovingly called her Nanny; grandchildren Jackie (Ken), Justin, Jordan (Amelie), Madeline, Paige, Garrett, Faith, Ava, Lydia, and Isaac; great grandchildren Lilly, Jacob, Taylor and Soleil. She will also be remembered by her extended family including her dear sister-in-law, Betty Rogers of Fredericton and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Dow and Edith, she was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Ethel and John Crouse of Fredericton; and brother-in-law, Ted Rogers of Fredericton.

Visitation will be held at Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre, 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview (506-857-9544) on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025 between the hours of 6:00pm - 8:00pm. 

A funeral service will be held from Fergusons Riverview Community Chapel on Thursday, January 30th, 2025 at 11:00 am with Pastor Carolyn Steeves officiating. There will be a reception immediately following the service in the funeral home Reception Centre.

The burial will take place at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
