Lois Taylor Machen was a gracious companion to our father, Bob Machen Sr., for nearly eighteen years. Lois had been a friend of my parents, Bob and June, for many years, as they shared a winter camping community in Clewiston, Florida. They appreciated Lois's sincere Christian faith and often attended church and gospel music events together. For years, Lois had been a monthly supporter of The Gideons International, which further strengthened their bond, as my parents had been members of the Gideons since 1981. My mother passed away in 2003. After a year of mourning, Dad visited Lois in Canada, staying with a mutual camping couple. Lois joined our family for our summer beach vacation in South Carolina. We all fell in love with this gracious, God-fearing lady who shared the same virtuous character as our mother and someone our father greatly respected. They married later that year, enjoying nearly eighteen years of Christian companionship until our father’s passing in 2022. Lois joined the Gideons as an Auxiliary, which she had never thought possible. We thank the Taylor family for sharing this precious lady with the Machen family during the final years of our father’s earthly life. They shared their love for God’s word, prayer, church attendance, the Gideon ministry, and summer family vacations to the beach. She was Grams to six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. We appreciate the years she dedicated to our family. What precious memories! She has reached her heavenly home, where many await her arrival. She looks forward to reuniting with family members and friends who have also trusted the Lord Jesus Christ and follow Him. Thank you, Lois, for living your life to honor Christ and for being a blessing to all those you touched along the way. We love you and look forward to seeing you soon! Bob Jr.
