I am very sorry to hear of Susan's passing. Susan would remind me that we were not first cousins, however, second cousins once removed or maybe twice removed, lol. I never did get it straight. To me, we were just cousins, and we would laugh when I would respond "Who cares" and wiggle my finger at her. We went to a few movies together and she would dissect it for its cultural significance, hidden political meanings and goodness knows what else. She certainly saw things in a more in-depth way. Life moved on for both of us and we lost track. I will always cherish and remember Susan's laughter. It was the most joyous sound I had ever heard. Books and writing were in her blood from a very early age.

I am so sorry to hear of Susan's passing . We went all through Junior High and High School together . I do remember , as Bill Robb pointed out, that she was the student reporter on the TEEN PAGE for Trimble at the Transcript . She took her responsibilities very seriously and did a great job. It was obviously her calling as she spent most of her career in journalism. Our paths crossed over the years and she was alway professional, capable , fun, interesting and proud of her boys . I am certain she will be missed by her siblings and her children. My condolences on your loss !

I’m proud to have, as Teen Page editor at The TimesTranscript, too many years ago, hired Susan as teen correspondent for Harrison Trimble High School. After graduation she came on staff full time, doing general reporting and then became “lifestyle page” editor, having renamed the position from “women’s editor.” Later, Susan moved to reporting for the CBC. The years passed and there was a disconnect, and it was only recently, in the past several years, that we reconnected as old friends, reminiscing about the old days in the newsroom, the stories we wrote and our fellow reporters, over an occasional restaurant meal. Susan had a great sense of humour and a wonderful mind to match. I will truly miss our drives in the country, our many talks and the meals we shared. Rest in Peace, my friend.
